the Cap d'Erquy
An extraordinary site with authentic nature: Cliffs and rocks of pink sand stone, wild heathland, dunes and an emerald blue sea. This historicaly loaded spot features booming crater, military kiosks and the paths of the customs officers. The Cap d'Erquy is classified site of 170 hectares and is owned by the French Conseil Géneral. The castle was build in the 14th century by the Goyon-Matignon. In the 17th century, it was adapted and in the early 20st century it was completely restored. It managed to keep its feodal aspect and was built on a spectacular site: it dominates the sea from 60 meters hight and is separated from the main land by large cracks in the land. Fall bridges give visitors acces to the castle. From the Chemin de ronde, you can discover the amazing panoramics of the complete Côte d'Emeraude (the emerald coast): l'anse des Sévignés, the Cap Fréhel, the bay of la Frênaye, the point of St-Cast, the island Ebihens, St-Briac and St-Lunaire, the point of the Décollé, St-Malo, Paramé and Rothéneuf. the Cap Fréhel
This legendary site is also an ornitological reserve. The emerald coloured sea of Cap Fréhel will give you lifelong memories. The Cap Fréhel is one of the most impressive spots in Bretagne with cliffs that rise up to 70 meters above sea level. The tour of the cape offers you a nice walk between the heathers and the gorses.
